The' Homeland' starrer, Marin Ireland has undergone such incident, which probably gnaws her every day of her life.
The very incident took place in the summer of 2012, while both Marin and Scott, the guy she was dating, were devising to perform as the title lovers in “Troilus and Cressida.” Meanwhile, off the stage, the argument about their relationships was taking place.
According to the interview, it was reported that Ireland slapped her then-boyfriend, Scott at their apartment two days earlier the discussion at sets, and later Scott ended up coming back at her, smacking her with a slap that knocked her on the floor.
The next morning, when the actress arrived at the Shoot, she had a black eye because of the slap. The members of the theater company were finding it difficult to process the situation and hence ended encumbering Ireland to stay shut on the matter.
However, Scott was seemingly apologetic on the mishap he created, he stated,
“All I want to do is take that moment back, take it out of her life and my life.”
Furthermore, Ireland addressed the situation saying,
“I continue to wonder where responsibility and accountability should be for what happened, Many actors don’t know what to do when behavior — physical, sexual, harassment, bullying — crosses a line.”
It propelled her into a cause, which later gained momentum in the industry. Uniting with the group of actors and theater professionals, she pressed unions and others to create specific protocols for registering and handling grievances about harassment in the theater.
Hopefully, in the days to come, Justice will be served to the parties who get victimized of harassment.
