“It was very ‘Desperate Housewives,'"
Both of them are said to be together since 1999, and despite being 17 years together, they have not felt any hurry to get married according to the Twitter post below.
“We realized that the two of us have the TV Disease,” explained Mikula, “Rachel can’t have one because she’d watch it all the time!”
They didn’t look like a match when both of them couldn’t cook; Mikula was girl-like while Maddow claims to be a dude like but still they somehow got together and are still going strong. People has reported Mikula “loves indulging in girlie accessories like purses” while Maddow claims to “look like a dude. You can tell from their picture together below taken from Twitter.
When They Plan on Getting Married?
Even though the two have been dating since 1999 but there still hasn’t been a word of moving their relationship forward. There was one time that perhaps signed the probability of their marriage. When she was in an interview about an entirely separate matter in August 2010, the topic got off topic and somehow ended with Rachel talking about her married life.
When asked about her plans with partner Susan, Rachel replied by saying
“Maybe. Conceivably. I like that we sort of have the right in Massachusetts.”
Massachusets is one of the very fist states to have had the legality of same-sex marriage since 2004. Due to this, she might be considering to get married as gay right will not be that big of a problem. Similarly, she had also said she would join the army if gays were openly allowed to join.
But then again in another interview on October 2011 she shared a little bit of a different idea when it came to marriage. She started off by saying how she and Susan hadn’t “felt the urgency” of getting married at any point. She was even teased for not being married at one point of the news.

Then she elaborated by saying,
“I feel that gay people not being able to get married for generations, forever, meant that we came up with alternative ways of recognizing relationships. And I worry that if everybody has access to the same institutions that we lose the creativity of subcultures having to make it on their own. And I like gay culture”
For now, the couple looks happy as ever whether they are married or not. Even though being different in many cases like the 15 year age gap between them, they still are very compatible.
