Just when you forgot all the controversies, other news has hit the media involving legendary golfer Tiger Woods.
Woods got arrested early Monday morning for driving under the influence (DUI) charges.
Woods was arrested on suspicion of DUI and was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail at 7:18 a.m.
Moreover, a mugshot of Woods was taken and revealed online.
The iconic 14-time major champion was released at 10:50 a.m. But hours after Woods was released from a jail near his home in Florida; he said that he had not consumed alcohol and Tiger Woods also blamed DUI arrest on prescription medications. In a statement released by Woods through his publicist, he said,
“I understand the severity of what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions,I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. …
Woods also added,
“What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications,I didn’t realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly.”
Woods, who is now 41, had just undergone a fourth surgery on his back on April 20. He played only twice this year and the latest being the time when he withdrew from an event held in February in Dubai due to his back issues.
But later on Monday, Woods’s longtime agent, Mark Steinberg, would not say whether the mix of medications Woods cited was related to his back problems. Mark said,
“He wanted to clarify the situation,But there’s nothing further to provide right now.”
The dominant player of the past 20 years and an inspiration for most of the aspiring golfers, Woods has not won a major championship since he won the "2008 U.S. Open". The win also preceded major knee and leg surgery.
Woods who has always been injury prone was also involved in a single-car crash near his then-home in Orlando. The accident then led to some key revelations about his serial infidelity and also his divorce.
Regardless of the controversies, the man still holds the record for staying firm on the number 1 rank for an astounding 683 weeks, and that is some achievement.
