Thomas Dekker Comes Out As Gay In An Emotional Essay! Also Revealed Being Married In April Of 2017

The most questioned sexuality of Terminator star Thomas Dekker is now finally answered, along with the news of marriage that took place in April 2017.

The 29 years old actor has come out officially about his sexuality and Thomas shared the big news of marriage with his followers via Twitter and Instagram on July 13, 2017.

In the essay via Instagram, the star explained how he felt compelled to talk about his sexuality because a prominent gay man brought it into the limelight in the form of an acceptance speech to “out” him on receiving an award.

Heroes alum, in fact, didn’t clarify the name, but somehow, he feels happy that he finally got the opportunity to come out of the closet. He wrote in the post,

“My sexual orientation once again came into question this week when a prominent gay man used an awards acceptance speech to "out" me. While he did not mention me by name, the explicit details of his reference made it easy for the public and media to connect the dots.”

Oddly, but the actor is thankful to the person.

Moreover, he revealed that he is a married man, and exchanged wedding vows with his husband in April 2017. 

“While it is an odd situation, I thank him because it presents a prime opportunity for me to publicly say that I am indeed a man who proudly loves other men. In fact, this April, I married my husband and I could not be happier.”

Reportedly, the prominent gay figure is the co-executive producer and writer of Heroes, Bryan Fuller. Bryan, in an acceptance speech on July 6, mentioned that he had tried to introduce a gay character in the show.

Further, Bryan claimed that the character allegedly didn’t want to come out as gay in the show and the actor's management threatened him as well.

Following that, Thomas clarified himself and stated,

“I would like it to be known by everyone, that I have played a gay character three times before in my career, one when I was twelve (which is on youtube), one when I was fifteen, and another when I was seventeen. I, nor my management have ever had any kind of problem with creating a gay character… What transpired on heroes is something far more complicated than anyone being ‘afraid’ to make Zach homosexual.”

  Terminator star Thomas added,

“I have never lied to the press about the fluidity of my sexuality but this man claiming that I came out is not true. Because I have not "officially" until this moment. I simply refuse to be robbed of the glorious joy that belongs to me. To say the words myself. "I'm gay". Those words are a badge of honor that no one can steal. “

Thomas shared that one should not be ashamed of their sexuality and should not rush either.

“Sexuality and who you love is a deeply personal and complicated thing. For some of us, it takes time to cultivate, discover and conclude. It is not something anyone should ever be ashamed of and certainly not something anyone should be rushed into. “

The emotional essay went on with the bitter truth of our community, on which Thomas addressed his fans and shared why he took the time to share about his sexuality. He wrote,

“I agree with many who believe it is an important responsibility for LGBTQ persons with a platform to come out. It has the power to change minds, challenge beliefs and make others feel understood and supported. It can strengthen the progression of our community and help disarm those who discriminate against us. It is a brave, powerful and important thing to do but it is also a deeply personal decision. One that should only be made when you are ready.”

The star shared,

“If we are to stand strong in the gay community, our mission should be support, not exclusion; love, not shame. I choose not to look back on the past with a regretful heart but rather focus on the future with a hopeful one. A future where myself and all others can feel free to express their true selves with honor and dignity.”

Thomas powerful message winded up as,

“I embrace you, any of you, with open arms, kindness, faith, and patience. For all of you who have supported me, before and now, I thank you from the bottom of my fledgling heart. Be proud of who you are. No matter how long it takes.”
