The presenter did not only get a chance to host the finale but also got the opportunity to host the post-Oscars show on 23rd February 2017, while with Matt Damon Jimmy spoke about his preparation for the Oscar

The news got cracked by his agent while Kimmel was returning from his vacation from Hawaii. The story brought a little happiness with ample of nervousness to the star. To the variety.com he shared his pre-Oscar nervousness and mentioned,
“As I approached her, I felt like I was going to tell her I wrecked her car or something.Then we got home, and I had a vicious migraine all night. It wasn’t your typical celebration.”
He further added,
“I made a decision to try to enjoy the process and be optimistic. That said, my subconscious still tells me it’s going to be a disaster. This is a no-win situation. Even if it goes great, you get a lot of shit from a lot of people.”
Just three months earlier Kimmel had hosted the Emmy Award show which had the lowest rated review of 11.3 million. While he is the first to take up the job of Oscar host after the Emmy which shall get judged by more than 10 million viewers who will be watching the Globe Awards on Sunday from 7:00 pm to 11:00 p.m. The key reason for making Kimmel the host for the three-hour show is to incline the review rate of the show which had got virtually decreased in the past years.
