Active since the second quarter of 2005, Alex got drafted by the Royals with the second pick in the Round 1, and he continues to tie himself with the same team till this date. He will be keeping up with the Royals until 2020.

The third baseman of the Royals, Alex didn't choose to be the third high-profile free agent to leave the World Series champion Royals; like infielder Ben Zobrist, who was traded to Chicago Cubs, and Johnny Cueto, who signed up with the Giants. Alex rather chose to be in a contract of four-year worth $72 million which has utterly reunited the Royals and Alex with a mutual option till 2020.

Alex began playing his first major league for Kansas City Royals in 2007 against Curt Schilling. Although there were some struggles for Alex in the initial period, he managed to build a respectable stats at the end of the season with an honorary Royals rookie record of hitting the 34th double of the season on September 12.

Alex managed to record 16 home runs playing 134 matches the following season in 2008, but also faced a 15-day placement on the disabled list in the same season.

However, the stats got better in the future for the player resulting in a batting average of .259 with 156 home runs in 11 years of his career.

Alex has never been traded to any team in the course of his professional career, as he has been continuously teamed up with the Royals. In January 2016, he signed a four year/ $72,000,000 contract with the Royals, which would benefit him an annual average salary of $18,000,000.

As of this year, he will earn a base salary of $16,000,000 while carrying a capital hit of $16,000,000.

The Royals' left fielder, Alex is the son of Mike and Leslie Gordon and is the sibling of Eric, Brett, and Derek Gordon. Alex is a married guy; he tied the nuptial knot with his wife, Jamie Gordon in the year 2008 and has been in a good relationship with her throughout his conjugal life.

Jamie met Alex for the first time when they both were students at Nebraska. The couple also shares three children: two sons and a daughter. The two elder kids of the couple are Maz and Sam Patrick Gordon, while they have recently welcomed their baby girl named Joey Lynn on May 22 this year.
