While 1994 The Lion King was compared to the work of Shakespeare like Hamlet, the 2019 version of the first is claimed to have been more professional, focusing more on the animation department rather than taking the viewers into an enchanted journey.
Despite recieving harsh criticism, critics have considered the difficulty of re-creating a masterpiece. Nevertheless, the movie is still the copy of its original with heart-touching moments.
One such review that defines the movie accurately came from A.O. Scott on The NYTimes:
There are a great many impressive moments in this "Lion King" remake, and a few that might elicit a gasp of amazement. There is a lot of professionalism but not much heart.
Comparing such words to the initial reviews are hard; the animated version of 1994 had a 93% rating from Rotten Tomatoes while the CGI animated 2019 movie has 59%.
Though the ratings are lower, the movie is, however, a complete package for anyone to renew their childhood memories.
