Baby Alert! Real Estate Broker Frednik Eklund and Husband Derek Kaplan Are Expecting Twins
Fredrik Eklund, the lead of Million Dollar Listing New York and his husband Derek Kaplan are expecting twins this fall via a surrogate.
The pair revealed the exciting news about the arrival of their babies on the season finale of Million Dollar Listing New York. They later talked more about the arrival in an exclusive interview with the PEOPLE.
The forty-years-old real estate agent, Eklund said-
“It’s the biggest thing that could ever happen to us. It’s a boy and a girl, and it’s just beyond.”
Eklund also took his Instagram to share the happy news. He shared a picture with Kaplan on Thursday where he wrote-
“We've been blessed two times over - we're six months pregnant with twins, a boy and a girl! It was important for us to take the time to keep the news for ourselves, but now we are ready to celebrate all the love. We thank you for supporting us in this journey and your well wishes.... We are finally going to be dads! Finally! #grateful ????????????????”
The pair first learned the news about the pregnancy back in April, on the occasion of Eklund’s 40th birthday, which was being celebrated in Paris. Eklund explains-
“That was probably the biggest moment of my life. I felt like it was meant to be, which is hard for me to say because it’s been so difficult.”
Eklund and Kaplan suffered multiple miscarriages because of which, Eklund began feeling discouraged while Kaplan was much stronger and calmer than Eklund.
You might not know that Kaplan has a seven-years-old son named Kai, who now lives with his mother. Eight years ago, Kaplan donated his sperm to a couple whom he met in London. The pair often visits mini Derek as well.
The Swedish real estate agent Fredrik Eklund got married to his partner Derek Kaplan on February 9, 2013. They exchanged vows in a very private wedding ceremony on Little Palm Island in the Florida Keys and now, they're on the verge of embracing their parenthood, together.
