"Stefan has bile-duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma), a rare and little-researched disease. The disease is now advanced to stage four, and therefore, his life expectancy is unfortunately significantly reduced."
The several friends and fans of Stefan were raising the fund to support him to battle his illness. Around $140,000 (£110,000) was already collected for his support and treatment.
Mark Valenti, the organizer of GoFundMe campaign wrote on the fundraising page-
"Despite the best efforts of his excellent Icelandic medical team, and Stefan's personal heroism, there is no apparent cure. There are always experimental processes, and they will be woven into the fabric of Stefan's care if at all possible."
Stefan’s character Robbie Rotten is popular among lots of people. These days there are many memes created out of his facial expressions.
On June 25, Stefan shared a post on Facebook saying “The memers may die but the memes live on.”
