Afrika Bambaataa, Allegedly Gay Man - Has Married Life With Wife To Show?
The American disc jockey, Afrika Bambaataa is best known as the Godfather of Hip Hop and the inventor of electro funk. Hailing from the family of Caribbean immigrants, he made a big name by spreading hip-hop culture in the 1980s.
However, his personal arena is another subject to discover as Afrika has not opened up about his married life. So, today, we will unfold the answers that reside behind Afrika Bambaataa's personal life.
Afrika Bambaataa's Sexually Assault Accusations, Sparks Gay Rumors
Afrika Bambaataa is the name of the pioneer of the 1982 track, Planet Rock and the founder of The Universal Zulu Nation. The famous musician has also made headlines due to his several sexual assault accusations, which resulted in people surmising him to be gay.
In April 2016, the former music industry executive and Democratic Party activist, Ronald Savage claimed that Afrika sexually assaulted him in 1980. He further explained that Bambaataa abused him at least five times in 1980.
A week later, other three men came forward accusing Afrika of the sexual assault. One of the men, Hassan Campbell, who used to live with Afrika and got fed by him, also claimed that Afrika used to assault him sexually. In an interview with Daily News in April 2016, he stated,
"He is a pervert. He likes little boys."
Another 50-years-old man anonymously added his side of the story saying,
"I know what Ronald Savage is saying is true because he did it to me. I have never spoken to anybody about this and when I did, I said 'Holy s---, they finally caught up to him.'"
Similarly, a 51-year-old former New Yorker named Troy also stepped up, stating:
"I still have a lot of anger about this. I've been dealing with this for years. It's a shame this didn't come out earlier. He showed me a book with a picture of a penis and said, 'You don't have to be gay for me to suck your d---,"
A Colorado-based writer, Khalil Amani first publicized about Afrika's sexual assault by writing an article in July 2013. His article claimed that Bambaataa drugged a man and performed oral s** on him without his consent.
Afrika's history of sexual accusations may point that the American disc jockey might be a gay and has a liking towards men. However, in May 2016, Afrika addressed his sexual allegations for the first time on camera with Lisa Evers on FOX 5 News, where he stated,
“I never abused nobody. It just sounds crazy for people to say, ‘Hey, you abused me.’ My thing is, you know all my people back then. You know all the people around me. If something like that happened, why you never went to none of them?”
He previously tried to prove his innocence through written statements and a radio interview, which also denies the gay rumors. However, there was a video uploaded on YouTube in July 2016 by the American rapper Lord Jamar, where he affirmed the gay sexuality of Afrika to some extent.
Married Or Not?
Apart from sexual assault scandals, Afrika has not been involved with any female figures that have surfaced out in the media. Neither has he been rumored dating any girlfriends nor is he married in the eyes of the public.
Despite the absence of a wife, it would still be early to rule that Afrika Bambaataa, who enjoys the net worth of $5 million, is not married, as there still lies the possibility of the musician having a secret married life all along, right?
