Damon, who is an actor and an orchestral conductor by profession, studied conducting at Aspen Music Festival under David Zinman, Murry Sidlin, and under Leonard Slatkin at the National Conducting Institute in Washington, D.C.
In 2004, Gupton was appointed as an American Conducting Fellow of the Houston Symphony, and in 2006, he became an assistant conductor of Kansas City Symphony.
