Openly Gay Actor Daniel Franzese Engaged To His Stylist Boyfriend! Find Out More

Out of numerous things President Obama has done right, one of those things has to be making gay marriage legal. This declaration led a lot of our favorite celebrities to come out and celebrate their relationship. One of that success story is of actor Daniel Franzese, our favorite “Damian” from the Mean Girls, who recently got engaged to his longtime boyfriend, stylist Joseph Bradley Phillips. Let’s see further how the proposal went down.

Daniel (38) popped the question to partner Joseph in a very romantic way. They were both at a Starbucks, near North Hollywood where everything went down. Daniel chooses Starbucks over a romantic dinner because it was the exact place the two of them met for the first time.

The proposal was preplanned, and as they were waiting for their order, the barista called out and referred to them as “Mr. and Mr. Franzese”, instead of taking their names. Then she handed Phillips a cup saying it was a new drink specially made for him and he should try it out.

Inside the cup, there was the ring, and when Joseph opened the cup, Daniel got down on his knee and proposed to him saying,

“Since I first saw you here, you have opened your heart to me, and I swear to God that for the rest of my life to honor and protect that heart if you will be my husband. Will you marry me?”

“Joseph has given me the best of his heart and I’m so happy he said yes, we can’t wait to be Mr. & Mr. Franzese.” He said while giving an exclusive interview with the People Magazine.

The couple had been dating for more than a year when Daniel proposed to Joseph on July 20, 2016.

Franzese started out his acting career in 2001 when he appeared in the film Bully. After that, he has appeared in more than a dozen films, but his most famous role till date is definitely playing the character of Damian in the cult favorite 2004 hit the Mean Girls. 

Currently, he was seen playing Eddie in Looking: The Movie, the movie version of the television series and Conviction and is filming the movie The Brits Are Coming. From his more than a decade-long career, he has been able to collect a net worth of $500,000.

Even though his family knew about him being gay, it was hard for him to come out publicly. So marking the tenth anniversary of the release of Mean Girls, he penned a touching letter to his character Damian from the movie and decided to come out of the closet publically.

Being a gay and an overweight guy, you might think that it might trouble Daniel in any way. But that is not true. He believes that it is liberating because his fans love him and feel validated and liberated the way he presents himself on screen.
