When a pair is married for more than three decades, people are very curious to know the secret of a happy and blissful marriage. Moreover, they also try to figure out the real wisdom behind choosing the right life partner and maintaining the relationship strong as they have.

The comedy legend, Jay Leno is one of the lucky men leading a happily married life with his wife for more than three decades now. So what is the secret behind a blissful married life with a wife? Let’s find out.

Secret Behind The Happy Married Life:

Jay Leno got married to his beloved wife, Mavis Leno, in 1980 after meeting her in 1970’s. During an interview in October 2015, Jay Leno revealed the trick behind his blissful married life and also a problem. He stated,

"The trick is to marry, like, a normal person, I always meet people who go, 'I met this girl, she's crazy, the sex is wonderful.' [And I say] 'I know, I know, but you know, when the sex is over, she's still crazy.' That's the problem."

In addition to that, Jay also shared his secret which is,

"Here's the secret: You marry your conscience ... You marry the person you wish you could be. That's what I did."

Moreover, Jay highlighted dynamics of each others’ profession and related that to their married life.

"I'm in show business, which is a selfish profession, so I married a woman that works very hard for women's rights and other issues like that and it balances out. You marry the person you wish you could be."

Also, Jay’s wife, Mavis in an interview in October 2014, expressed her beautiful feelings for her husband. She said,

“He is probably the single kindest human being I ever met,”

The Cause For Not Having Children:

In October 2014, in an interview, Jay Leno's wife Mavis, who is a philanthropist and feminist, reasoned for not having kids and took the responsibility upon herself and talked about the impact of "The Honeymooners" on her decision. Mavis explained,

I would see a young woman who was very attractive, and a thousand times smarter, and she’s living in this little tenement hovel with her husband, Ralph, and then this Ed Norton, who has an even hotter wife. These men spend all their time talking about what a drag the wives are and asking how can they get away from them. It’s perfectly obvious the women are the ones trapped. I remember telling my mother when I was 7 or 8 that I was never going to get married or have children. To me, this is the way women get caught.

The Leno couple did not have children with mutual agreement and as a husband, Jay has been very supportive of Mavis's decision of not having children.

Young Days of Jay Leno:

Young Jay first appeared on "The Tonight Show" in 1997 and with his performance as a stand-up comedian, he sure made his audience laugh out loud.

As a standup comedian, Jay has an ability to attract larger viewers and so did the show “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”” on NBC from 1992 to 2009. His estimated earning was $1 Million in 1992 which tripled by 1994 and reached $3 Million.

On retirement back in 2009, he was worth more than $22 Million, and upon his return with NBC show, his earnings reached $24 Million, but it dwindled down to $15 Million by 2012. He supports and directs some of his earnings, through Feminist Majority for the campaign, which fights against gender apartheid in Afghanistan.

Leno invested his earnings in his passion of collecting antique cars and motorcycles and featuring his automobile collection in a web series called “Jay Leno’s Garage,” which attracted a lot of viewers. And later its extended version was aired on CNBC. Leno's talent, hard work, and dedication have earned him an estimated net worth of $ 350 Million.
