Finally, the 23rd season of Dancing With the Stars came to a halt last night on 22nd November, Tuesday after the finale was swayed away by the victory of Laurie Hernandez and her pro dancing partner Val Chmerkovskiy and took the stage with a mighty bang.

The 16 years old artistic gymnast made it to the finale with her Ukrainian-American professional dancing partner Val Chmerkovskiy and won the competition, naming themselves as the Mirror Ball Trophy Champion.

Fellow dancing stars, race car racer James Hinchcliffe with his sexy dancing partner Sharna Burgess and former footballer Calvin Johnson and his pro partner Lindsay Arnold also made it to the finals and gave their best performance.

The three finalists scored full points of 40/40 for the last time with their following dance types:

  • James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess - Foxtrot/Viennese Waltz

  • Calvin Johnson and Lindsay Arnold - Quickstep/Jive

  • Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy - Foxtrot/Argentine Tango.

Like always, polls were created by various sites and right before the finale, gold derby released their poll results which had the Miracle Man James Hinchcliffe on top of their polls with 47% of the vote, defeating Laurie Hernandez with a thin margin of 3% as she got 44% of the votes. On the other hand, Calvin Johnson had a slight 2% of the vote cast in his favor.

James Hinchcliffe, who was a victim of a fatal crash which nearly killed him in 2015, impressed the judge’s panel so much that Carrie Ann Inaba called James the “miracle man of season 23 of Dancing with the Stars”. Although the miracle man had almost equal chances to win, he got backed down by gymnast Laurie who had an advantage of her flexibility and gymnastic skills.

Lauren and Val won the competition and were named the Mirror Ball Trophy champions while James and Sharna took the second place followed by Calvin and Lindsay called on the third place.
