The Mexican soap opera actor, Eduardo Yáñez is held under criminal investigation as he got violent during a red carpet interview in Hollywood on October 10 and slapped a reporter in the middle of an on-camera conversation.

In the red carpet event held on Tuesday in Los Angeles, Eduardo lost his temper and aggressively hit a journalist, Paco Fuentes from the Spanish-language television program EL Gordo y La Flaca(Univision) after the Univision reporter asked some personal questions related to his relationship with his son Eduardo Jr.

Soon after the reporter dropped his question, Eduardo replied,

“If you’re so worried about my son, send him the money, or you go and talk to him.”

The journalist then said that he is only asking what the public wants to know. Eduardo fired him back by saying,

“That’s bull—, That’s what you say to get people involved in what they don’t care about. But the concerned one is you, brother. You go and tell [my son] what you have to say.”

He added,

“Just remember that the press is the link between, You are a pure a—. Do not disrespect me.”

An insider close to Eduardo defended his behavior and said,

“He was defending his family and his word after all the harassment from the press….No one likes to react like this, but if they provoke you that much and say things that hurt the ones around you, you wouldn’t allow it.”

On Thursday, October 12, Eduardo issued an apology on Twitter stating that his personal life is not for sale. He wrote in Spanish as,

When translated into English it means,

"I want to sincerely apologize to the public and the person affected by my action. It was not right. My personal life is not for sale."

TMZ has learned that Univision reporter Paco Fuentes has filed a police report with the LAPD, claiming assault and battery. Though the investigation is not complete, the actor would face a maximum of 6 months in jail if he's convicted.

Eduardo has been sharing a fraught relationship with his son, who recently called him a drug addict and a racist who abuses a woman.

Eduardo Jr., the son of Eduardo Yáñez and ex-wife Norma Adriana Garcia recently set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise money rather than asking his father for financial support after he was involved in a car accident.
