Wedding Bells for the Writer! Lauren Morelli is now Married to Her Longtime Partner Samira Wiley
Surprise Surprise! Writer Lauren Morelli is now officially married to her longtime partner Samira Wiley.
With the confetti-themed celebration, the wedding took place in the Palm Springs, the same location where they were engaged last October. The marriage was an intimate ceremony with friends and family.

The non-traditional event in which Funfetti cake added extra lighting to the wedding. Wiley’s parents were the one to officiate the wedding. On the way up to the aisle, the couple’s choice music “This Is How We Do It” Montell Jordan was played, and the entrance was hauling with pop star Justin Beiber hit “Baby.”
The wedding dress was designed and prepared by Christian Siriano, an elegant fashion designer. After the couple had shared “I-Dos,” the guests dined amid by centerpieces of flowers and citrus fruits, garlands and decorations further enhanced by the bright light strands and mismatched glassware.
The venue must have been very special for the pair as it was the same place where ONIBT writer Lauren Morelli popped the questioned to the OITNB star with sparkling yellow gold ring.
During an interview, the author explained how she had the epiphany to propose her then girlfriend while the pair first enjoyed their weekend getaway in a desert retreat in November. She said,
“I realized I could propose right before, and then we'd have the weekend there to celebrate,”
She continued,
“I found a ring, and they shipped it to me, and it was as if someone had handed me a ball of fire and said, "Here, tend to this.”
The duo celebrated their bachelorette party with 13 of her closest friend who also included her co-stars Danielle Brooks and Uzo Aduba at the Miami club E11EVEN.
Before Samira, Morelli was married to Stephen Basilone. She later separated from her husband when she realized that she is lesbian, during the time when she was writing for the Netflix hit series OITNB. Giving further explanations of the experience, she wrote in Identities.Mic,
“I realized I was gay in fall 2012, one of my first days on the set,”
Whatever may be the past, she is now happy with her partner, which is all that matters.
