Luiz returns to beloved Chelsea with a mission!
The Brazilian defender made one of the shocking moves of the transfer window when he re-joined Chelsea from PSG in a £30million deal on deadline day on a three-year contract, and his current salary is £120,000 per week.
The 29-year-old skillful defender has returned to Stamford Bridge having left for the Ligue 1 champions in 2014 for a record-breaking £50m deal.
Luiz told the club's official website:
"I'm delighted to return to Chelsea. We had a fantastic story during my first time at the club and I want to help the team and Antonio Conte achieve a lot of success.
Moreover, he added:
'I always had a wonderful relationship with the fans and I am looking forward to wearing the blue shirt at Stamford Bridge once again.'
David Luiz won the 2012 Champions League in Munich and 2013 Europa League in Amsterdam with Chelsea before moving to PSG before the 2014 World Cup.
Luiz joined the Blues from Benfica in January of 2011 and made 143 appearances, scoring 12 goals, before his transfer three-and-a-half-years later to Paris.
David Luiz has declared “it is time” for him to win the Premier League medal with Chelsea after his shocking move in a deadline day. Champions League, Europa League as well as an FA Cup medal were all added to Luiz’s collection during his three-year regime at Stamford Bridge from 2011. Although Chelsea won Premier League in 2014/15 season under Jose Mourinho, David Luiz was in PSG during that time.
Luiz said:
“It is time to do it. And I hope it will be this year. I am working hard for that and this is our goal this season. We don’t have the Champions League to fight for so for sure we will try to win the Premier League and both cups.”
Hats off to Luiz's determination!
David Luiz has been playing through an injury with a knee problem for the past two months following an offensive tackle by Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero where Blues won 3-1.
Before Chelsea’s match against arch nemesis Arsenal, Luiz has now revealed that the discomfort in his knee is restricting him and making it difficult in training.
Sergio Aguero was sent off for an ugly and intentional two-footed lunge on David Luiz at the end of Chelsea's commanding 3-1 victory at Etihad Stadium in December of 2016.
The Brazil international said of his injury:
“I’ve been feeling my knee for some time, I’ve been playing a bit impaired, but it’s all part of football. It’s ok, we’ll treat it now and rest for Saturday’s game.”
Currently, the heart of Chelsea’s defense, Luiz has been in regular consultation with Chelsea's medical department over how to cope with the knee injury and still play on Chelsea’s incredible run in Premier League. Currently, Chelsea is nine points ahead of title rivals and are firmly in position to win the league.
