On the back of the staggering numbers he had as a college player, he then earned a big call and was the first overall draft pick for the Portland Trail Blazers back in 2007. But then fate took a twisted turn! In September 2007, he underwent microfracture surgery on his knee, and as a result of that, he missed the entire 2007–08 NBA season.Â
However, that was not it for the seven-footer as he came back after recovering from injury and then debuted on the opening night of 2008 NBA season.

However, Oden was not able to make the kind of impact Miami fans expected, and he ended up playing only 23 games for the mighty team. Then he tried his hand at the Chinese basketball scene where he played for the Jiangsu Dragons from 2015 to 2016.
But everyone thought that his injuries would force him an early retirement, and that was exactly what happened! Greg Oden retired back in 2016 and said he is never coming back again.
He said,
"It's over - I feel too much like an old man."
Claims were there that injury is what led to his ultimate downfall and had it not been for the injuries, he would have boasted better overall stats as a basketball player.
