Chris Smalling All Set To Turn Girlfriend Into Wife; Gets Fellow Player Injured In Training Session

Chris Smalling, 2016 Manchester United Player’s player of the year is currently the leader on the field. He has been taking the armband in the absence of regular Manchester United Captain, Wayne Rooney. Besides for having taken the role of the captain in Rooney's absence, Smalling has been in the headlines for a different reason as well. Although Manchester United didn’t have best of times last year, Smalling had one off the field, as he was engaged with his girlfriend. So who’s she? Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has put his England struggles behind him as he popped the question to his long-time girlfriend, Sam Cooke. Although he was hospitalized in July of 2016 due to food positioning in Bali, he recovered in time to propose his ex-Page three girl, now a photographer Sam Cooke. Sam made the announcement on Facebook on July 12, 2016, where she announced,

 “Last night in the most perfect setting Chris asked me to be his wife. Ridiculously happy!!!!”

Chris Smalling revealed his engagement to Sam Cooke alongside a photo of his to be wife feeding an elephant in Bali and the pair spend some time away from football after Cooke followed Smalling at Euro 2016.

Confirming the news of their engagement, Smalling shared on Instagram:

 'Bali will be remembered for many reasons but the most memorable moment was when a certain @samcookephotography said yes! #fiance.'

Smalling and 30-year-old model Sam Cooke are regular visitors to Bali as the couple was holidaying in the Far East following England's disappointed summer exit to Iceland at Euro 2016.

The love birds engagement follows their long romance and is the perfect end to a holiday in Bali which saw Chris Smalling hit the headlines for the wrong reasons. Following the news of Smalling's incident in July of 2016 Manchester United released a statement which read:

 'Manchester United can clarify Chris Smalling has had food poisoning during his holiday which resulted in him fainting on Sunday. The 26-year-old defender was taken to the hospital and is now feeling fine. Smalling is currently on vacation following his time with England at Euro 2016 before reporting back for pre-season training later this month.'

Now Smalling is to be the husband of Sam Cooke, and that sums up the rumor of him being gay.

Phil Jones has withdrawn from the England squad ahead of their clash with Germany and is set to miss at least four weeks of action after suffering a suspected broken toe.

Moreover, to rub salt in the wounds for Manchester United fans, it was Red Devils' and England team-mate Chris Smalling who collided with the 25-year-old defender, Jones. And Manchester United Fans are melting on Twitter:

Earlier in February of 2016, Smalling spoke in an interview about Chelsea’s talisman Diego Costa where he said:

“Last season he didn’t play in the two games so I haven’t played against him yet. But I’m looking forward to it, shall I say,"

Phil Jones could now miss up to nine matches in April, giving Jose Mourinho a  headache ahead of a very busy April and seeing the list of injured players of Manchester United.
