World Golf Hall of Famer, Phil Mickelson hasn't played since October as he underwent two sports hernia surgeries this offseason. On his return, Phil shot an impressive 4-under 68 and is just four strokes off the lead.
Mickelson carded five birdies as well as a bogey on the day and also rocked a legendary logo of himself on his rain jacket which he wore during the game. The logo is that of him leaping in the air at the 2004 Masters, which was his first major championship.

He scrambled to par the hole and after went on to shoot a 4-under 68 on January 19 in the CareerBuilder Challenge, leaving him four strokes back after his awaited return from his injury state. Mickelson said:
''I struck it horrible, but I scored out of my mind. So, I'm very happy with it. My first round of golf was Saturday and I've been able to work out just the last two weeks.''
Firstly, the veteran player hooked his first tee shot into the trees at La Quinta Country Club but again reloaded it and hit the provisional into the fairway. Mickelson added:
''That next hole, the second hole's an extremely difficult drive and I wanted to just get another swing,''
Moreover, he found the first ball and hammered his shot under the trees to just off the front of the green. Mickelson said:
''It was really a great day for me because I scored so much better than I played. When I finally did hit some really good shots I ended up close and made a few birdies. And when I hit some really bad shots - and I hit some really bad shots - I was still able to salvage some up-and-downs for pars.''
Mickelson seemed happy spending time with his family during his recovery from the surgery. He said:
"Although I've had surgeries, I've been able to spend time with my family and kind of plan for some things in the future, and it's been really an exciting time."
Phil met Amy McBride in 1992 and married on November 16, 1996, after four years of relationship. The couples have been married for more than two decades now and share two daughters and a son together.
