Cara Mund, The Winner of Miss North Dakota is Now Crowned as Miss America 2018
Miss North Dakota, Cara Mund made a history winning the Miss America 2018 pageant on Sunday night!
Well, in the 97 years of the Miss America pageant, the contestants from North Dakota have never earned a crown and not even made it to the Top Five of the competition.
The 23-year-aged gorgeous brunette, Cara, who hails from Bismarck, became the first one to win the coveted title creating a history for the Roughrider State.
The 2018's pageant winner got crowned by former Miss America 2017 Savvy Shields of Arkansas.
She surpassed the runner-up Jennifer Davis (Miss Missouri), 2nd runner-up Kaitlyn Schoeffel (Miss New Jersey), 3rd runner-up Briana Kinsey (Miss District of Columbia) and 4th runner-up Margana Wood (Miss Texas) along with forty-six other women.

As she takes over the former Miss America, she is now the recipient of a $50,000 scholarship and a six-figure salary during her reign as Miss America as well as an appearance agreement with Dick Clarke Productions.
A panel of judges including country artist Thomas Rhett, singer Jordin Sparks, TV personality Maria Menounos, model Molly Sims, Olympian Tara Lipinski, former Miss America Nina Davuluri and People's Jess Cagle decided to declare Cara winner amid the other finalists of the event.
Besides her beauty, Cara displayed her exceptional talent which compelled the judges to make their decisions in her favor.
Cara stole the event with her talent of jazz dancing to "The Way You Make Me Feel" by Michael Jackson. She then impressed the panel of judges with her answers to two of the question rounds.
In a question about the No.1 item on her bucket list, she grabbed the attention of the mass stating the fact about the lack of pageant victories from her state. Her answer was:
“Honestly? It was to get to Miss America and make it past the Top 10. We’ve only had three girls [from North Dakota] ever make it this far. And so it just proves that it doesn’t matter where you come from geographically — if you have the ability to do it and you dream it, you can do it.”
Chris Harrison and Sage Steele hosted the annual competition yesterday, which featured beauty pageants from every state of the United States.
