Drumrolls people!!!! The new Miss America 2020 has been announced.

Well, it may only be late-2019, but America has already crowned its beauty queen for 2020. The new Miss America was announced on Thursday night after the final event held at the Mohegan Sun Earth Expo & Convention Center in Connecticut.

And, the new winner of the prestigious crown is Camille Schrier from Virginia. At the grand event held on 19 December, 24-year-old Camille was crowned by her forerunner Miss America 2019, Nia Franklin.

At the final event, the Miss Virginia, who is a scientist in the making, beat 50 other contestants after performing the first-ever science demonstration in the talent round of the beauty pageant.

Born to parents: Tom Schrier and Cheryl Schrier in 1995 (birthday: 30 June), Camille started taking part in pageants since her teenage. But, she stopped when she turned eighteen as she felt such beauty pageants gave more preference to outward appearance. 

It was only after the organizers of Miss America eliminated its swimsuits round; she considered giving it a try. Then, she participated in Miss Virginia and finally got her entry to Miss America after she was crowned the title in June 2019. 

Unlike many other pageant runners, Camille's talents don't include singing or dancing. In fact, she leans more to the athletic side.

The new Miss America is one exceptionally talented lady, with a solid educational background. She has degrees in Biochemistry and Systems Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Virginia Tech. Further, she plans to get a doctorate of pharmacy degree in the future. 

Moreover, for the talent rounds at the finale of Miss America, the academic beauty queen gave a demonstration on hydrogen peroxide.

Following her big win of the Miss America title, Camille did not only bag the crown, but she also got scholarships worth more than $300,000 as the winning prize.

Further, she got the chance to represent America in the upcoming Miss World 2020. For that, Camille has a lot of hopes riding on her.
