Comedian Jasper Carrott Gets Emotional Recalling Her Daughter's Illness and Hard Times!
What do Ellen DeGeneres, Sarah Silverman, Owen Wilson, David Letterman, Larry David, Jim Carrey, Conan O'Brien, Rodney Dangerfield Maria Bamford and Woody Allen all have in familiar? They're all hilariously funny and brilliant, but the thing is their humor came from their horrible past or present. All of the characters mentioned above have suffered through the devastating pitfalls of depression.
It is same with Jasper Carrot, an American actor, and comedian. He got emotional when he recalled his daughter’s illness.

The 71-year-old actor got emotional at the ground of city hospital while he was surrounded by families who donated organs or received one. For a matter of fact his daughter, Lucy Davis who is an American actress had kidney illness and received a kidney from her mother Hazel in 1997. Lucy was then given the kidney in a simultaneous operation of both women which involved two surgeons.
A statement released by the Birmingham hospital read:
"University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust has performed a living-related kidney transplant on the wife and daughter of Jasper Carrot. The operation, which took place at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on December 15 was from mother to daughter, and both women are recovering well."
The actor and comedian Jasper Carrot revealed that his circumstances weren’t as dramatic as most of the people present there.
“My wife donated her kidney to my daughter 17 years ago, and the latest results are indicative that it will last another 17 years. It means my daughter has a life.”
The veteran actor got emotional and told that his best friend, drummer of Electric Light Orchestra at the tender age of 10, lost his father and from then on Carrot realized what would life be without a father. He also went on to praise medical resources of today’s world and said it made the big difference in a matter of years.
Carrot then joked about his daughter saying she has become irritable recently after they discovered that the kidney was going through the menopause.
In the end, he didn’t forget to thank the people and families who donate the organ. He said:
“We are here today to say thank you to all the families who have had to go through that awful process.”
Controversy surrounding Carrot!
It was back in 1995 when Jasper Carrot had been a subject of complaints from BBC as he was continuously making fun about Alzheimer’s disease in his show as he joked that once the man visited a doctor and told that he had both cancer and Alzheimer's disease.
"Oh, well," he replies, "at least I haven't got cancer."
All in all, Jasper Carrot wasn't hostile about Alzheimer’s disease rather he was lightening the distressing aspects of the disease.
Being one of the top comedians, Jasper Carrot features in the rich list of television industries. Carrot has 15 percent stake that he and his wife holds in Complete Communications, who is the parent company of Celador and maker of ITV's Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? It is the very reason he has the net worth as that of £48 million.
