CNN's Kirsten Powers Faced Sexism While In Fox News! Something That Related To Her Not Getting Married?

Media is a nasty place. They usually report instances that happen all over the world and news that is worth the time of viewers. But sometimes, things going on inside the field goes unheard.

For instance, there was this case against Late Roger Ailes, founder of Fox News who faced a lawsuit against him for making sexual advances on former Fox News Anchor, Gretchen Carlson.

Since Gretchen took the bold step of going against the big names in the biz, several other women have come upfront. One of them is Kristen Powers, who sought justice for what she faced, as no one was bold enough to take action in that matter.

Sexism at Fox News:

Kristen, who currently is employed at CNN as an on-air political analyst, faced sexism at some point in her time with Fox News, and even complained about it. During a talk session in Anderson Cooper 360, Kristen said that she was downed by Bill O’Reilly while appearing regularly on ‘The O’Reilly Factor’ with Margaret Hoover.

From one of her incidents, Kristen recalled,

“I was thinking about an incident that had happened early on in my career there where I was on-air there with Margaret Hoover, who’s at CNN now, on a regular segment, we were on every Monday, And he got Margaret’s name wrong, and Margaret said, ‘Hey, get my name right,’ and he said, ‘Oh, I’m sorry, there’s a lot of blondes in this operation, I can’t keep you all straight. Megyn Kelly’s coming up,’ starts throwing all these blondes’ names.”

She continued,

“And at the end of the segment, says, ‘Thank you for your blondeness,’ to both of us.”

Complaints Did Not Mean Anything At Fox News!

After being treated in that way, Kristen took the complaint to O’Reilly’s executive producer, to whom she told about the apology she deserved; an apology without which she would not appear on the show.

“He needs to apologize and he needs to never do that again, or I am not doing his show anymore.” 

However, the response was something that she did not see coming.

“And I was told basically, ‘Well, you know, Bill. He’s kind of a throwback. He’s kind of an Archie Bunker. And I said, ‘If you mean he is a Neanderthal, then we are on the same page, I am a political analyst here. So he went to Bill, came back, and said, ‘No, he’s not going to apologize.’ So I went to my boss. I was called into my boss’s office and was told, ‘There’s nothing we can do. We are sorry this happened to you.'”

As nothing seemed to work, Kristen took the news to Late Roger Ailes, but it did not change the scenario either.

“I was told the same exact thing. ‘There’s nothing we can do. It’s Bill. He’s a jerk. Nobody likes him.’ And then Roger said, ‘You know Bill. He likes to put up dirty pictures and ask pretty girls talk about them… And then he said, ‘What am I going to do? I don’t like him, but he makes so much money, there’s nothing I can do. That was the culture.”

However, in 2014, Kristen started to appear on O’Reilly’s show again, and this time, she defended him from the alleging sexism acts by State Department deputy spokesperson Marie Harf.

“Sexism is a serious problem and a serious accusation. It’s true there are many people who dismiss women as unserious and out of their depth not because they are, but because they are women. Bill O’Reilly isn’t one of them. I know. As a Fox News contributor, I’ve worked with him for eight years, including weekly segments where we often disagree heatedly. O’Reilly does not discriminate when it comes to expressing tough judgments. Anyone with a passing familiarity with his work knows this, which is what makes Harf’s accusation so irresponsible.”

Whatever the situation might have been, it never became something that would dishevel her personal life. Kristen has had multiple relationships, which includes dating affair with a couple of boyfriends and a married life that is now long forgotten; all thanks to her engagement to Robert Draper.

In a nutshell, Kristen previously had a dating affair with Anthony Weiner in 2002 and got married to Marty Makary in 2010. However, their relationship hit the side track in 2013 as the couple faced a divorce. She did not add any family members, i.e., children, from her relationships.

Her most recent man love is Robert Draper. In 2016, Kristen announced through her twitter that she is engaged to get married to Robert and that she is more than happy to have Robert Draper to become her future husband.
