The University spokesperson to Nbcnews.com said:
"The violence got instigated by a group of about 150 masked agitators who came onto campus and interrupted an otherwise non-violent protest," UC Berkeley said in a statement. Some people got attacked, and police treated six people for injuries.”
They said:
“We regret that the threats and unlawful actions of a few have interfered with the exercise of First Amendment rights on a campus that is proud of its history and legacy as the home of the Free Speech Movement."
While Milo pointed about the demise of the free speech at UC Berkeley.
Right after the drastic event the American President Donald J Trump spoke about the cancellation of the event, where President has indirectly threatened to bar the federal fund of the University if it fails to acknowledge the freedom of speech and coax violent act on the innocent people.

On the other hand, the California Mayor Gavin Newsom gave his appalling statement towards the threat presented by President Trump.
