Renowned hockey player Cherry Seaborn, who competed in British University Championships, got engaged to his childhood friend and 'The Shape of You' singer, Ed Sheeran as per the announcement on January 20, 2018. While announcing via Instagram, Ed Sheeran revealed that the couple was engaged before welcoming the year 2018. The caption read,
“Got myself a fiance just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx”
Seaborn, who is 25 of age, first met "Thinking Out Loud" singer during their school days at Thomas Mills High School in Framlington. However, they didn't start dating from high school.
A fellow school friend of Seaborn and Sheeran revealed an interesting detail of their high school days with Female First. He divulged,
"There was always something there between them. Ed had a crush on Cherry at school, but she had a boyfriend then."
Back in 2016, Ed's friend Taylor Swift threw a party for the couple, celebrating their one year anniversary, initially shedding a proper spotlight on the couple's dating life.
As Ed took a break for a year for his music, the couple got time to spend most of 2016 traveling the world together.
Ed later revealed that taking a break from music, he finally had the chance to fall in love. In an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 last year, he said
'This has been the first time I've ever actually had the time to fall in love properly. I've always got into relationships very passionately - I'm a redhead and also Irish.'
Cherry transferred to the London in December 2016, so that she can move in with Ed. Cherry hit the headlines in 2017 when she was pictured on a rare night out with Ed at the BRIT Awards.

In the same year, Ed Sheeran went on the show and revealed that he shares the strong romance for someone, without disclosing the identity of Seaborn.
Sheeran mentioned on Radio 2 in February 2017, saying,
“I spent every day for a year with this certain person, we kind of have a strong relationship now, which is good. I’m really secure now, we live together and we have cats, and I think when you have cats that’s kind of it.”
On an Austrailian radio show, Sheeran even confirmed that he is living with Seaborn.
"I live with Cherry now. We've got cats, we have takeaways and watch movies, we have people round for dinner. I've never had that."
When asked about his thoughts on marriage last year, he had revealed,
"I'm pretty...yeah I feel pretty good about it."
Moreover, he confessed his desire to start a family.
"'Yeah, potentially. I would like some kids. I'm ready, let's go - tour bus babies, little fat, chubby babies that just walk around."
