Megyn Kelly, a very renowned journalist, is leaving Fox News to join NBC after twelve years. Kelly will be seen for the last time on Fox News on Friday in her show, ”The Kelly File.”
The Chairman -Andrew Lack of NBC News has managed to make Ms. Kelly join the NBC from Fox news. At NBC, she will have a triple role in which firstly, she will host her own daytime news and discussion program. Secondly, she will anchor an in-depth Sunday night news show and lastly, take a regular role in covering big events or network's own special political programs.
The daytime program would feature a show which would be a mix of news, interviews and panel-like discussions covering a range of issues. And The Sunday night program would provide Ms. Kelly with a continued hand in hard news.
It is not revealed how much salary would she be receiving from NBC. However as a very successful personality in her career, even the slightest increase in her income would rank her among television’s highest paid journalists.
When Kelly decided to leave Fox News, she was offered a very generous salary, i.e., the company was prepared to pay her a salary of more than $20 million a year. However, Kelly didn’t get allured from the offer.
So, on her leaving the company, Rupert Murdoch, an executive chairman of 21st Century Fox, bid her fair well with a supportive statement which said,
“We thank Megyn Kelly for her 12 years of contributions to Fox News,” the statement read. “We hope she enjoys tremendous success in her career and wish her and her family the best.”
To her viewers, she gave a very touching message on leaving the fox news in which she mentioned that it would be a new challenge for her to join NBC.
"This was a tough decision for me, because I love this show, our staff, my crew, my colleagues here at Fox, and you, those who write me the lovely handwritten notes, asking about my kids, and even those who -- very rarely -- complain on Twitter about our coverage after our show, or a presidential debate.”
She addressed her loyal viewers in her statement where she said;
"Now, I don't actually know most of you, so perhaps it's not true love, but it's the kind that makes one feel connected to another human being, and that, after all, is why I believe we're here -- human connection,"
The most important reason for her to join NBC was to get a quality time with her children who are seven, five and three years old.
Lastly, she expressed her gratitude to Fox News family as;
"I am very grateful to NBC for this opportunity, and I am deeply thankful to Fox News for the wonderful 12 years I have had here. I have grown up here, and been given every chance a young reporter could ever ask for,"
“The Murdoch family has been kind and good to me at every turn, and my colleagues are like a second family. So I will miss them and this show, and you. And I hope our human connection continues, albeit over a different line."
Megyn Kelly also took to her Twitter to reveal her fans and followers that it was a very emotional moment for her to level the channel and thanked all the viewers who showed their support and love during her twelve years of long journey.
