Dave Dombrowski Fired, Contract, Net Worth, Career

It's official; Dave Dombrowski is fired from his position as CEO/General Manager of the Boston Red Sox.

The team's execs announced their decision to let go of the sport's veteran on 8 September 2019.

The news of Dave's exile didn't come well to the fans and is assumed to harm the former manager's career.

It turns out, the former Red Sox's GM-President's affiliation with the team didn't produce a satisfactory result for the club. It was apparent that the Red Sox wasn't giving any notable performance ever since winning the 2018 World Series title. The team even lost to the New York Yankees. Several actions of the former president of the club might have resulted in his firing.

Likewise, he had even signed several players for a hefty salary, including David Price and Chris Young. Admittedly, Dave had hired Chris for a contract of $13 million a year on a two-year deal.

Instead of drafting a new member or signing other players, he opted to retain the expensive players. So, there is a probability that many weren't happy with his strategy. Since last season, the team's performance wasn't as expected, and Dave was the one blamed for the loss.

With a payroll of over $220 million, the team couldn't afford to keep giving an unsatisfactory performance. Afterall, remaining at the height of glory is the goal of every club. However, the team hasn't yet made the reason behind the firing official.

Post Dave's exit, the team plans to lift the position of their existing assistant general manager Eddie Romero as their baseball operations department leader.

Dave Dombrowski's Career

Before partying ways with Red Sox, Dave had notably established himself in the arena of baseball at various positions. He served as the CEO and general manager of Detroit Tigers in Major League Baseball. Moreover, in 2012, he was honored by the Pitch & Hit Club of Chicago through his induction into the Lou Boudreau Hall of Fame.

Likewise, in his baseball career, the manager was rewarded with several awards including Baseball America's Executive of the Year award, consequently in 2006 and 2018.

Dave had first started his career working as an administrative assistant in minor tournaments. He later made history at the age of 31 by becoming the youngest General Manager in MLB in 1988.

Also, he had a massive part in building the Miami Marlins - the team that won the world series in 1997 and 2003.

With such contributions to the sport, Dave has been rewarded. He enjoys a multi-million dollar net worth; however, the exact amount is still under covers.
