One of those setbacks in her career was the lawsuit filed by Paris Hilton in 2007.
Paris filed a federal lawsuit against a website, Parisexposed.com, which was selling access to Paris's personal belongings and letting visitors view Hilton’s bank records, some personal diaries, and personal home videos for a $39.97 fee.

The site even claimed the items were auctioned off after Paris faltered to pay the rent on an LA storage facility.
In the lawsuit filed in 2007, Hilton said the items went into the 6,000-sq.-ft. storage unit a couple of years ago, when she and her sister, Nicky, moved out of a house that was burglarized.
Hilton slammed mentioning; that a moving company was to pay the storage fees. She further elaborated,
“I was appalled to learn that people are exploiting my and my sisters’ (sic) private personal belongings for commercial gain,”
Hilton’s lawyer, Gregory Korn, added more in the filing that some "unscrupulous individuals" could have used such pieces of information, which included credit card receipts and Hilton’s passport, to steal Hilton’s identity, or even worse, to stalk and even physically harm Paris.
The lawsuit alleged that defendants Nabil and Nabila paid $2,775 for Hilton’s items and then sold those items for $10 million to an entrepreneur named Bardia Persa, the creator of Parisexposed.com.
