Born to Charlotte Mary and John Watcyn Lewis on 11 February 1971, Damian Lewis spent his childhood in St John's Wood, London, England. For siblings, he has two brothers Gareth, William, and a sister named Amanda.

Damian studied at Ashdown House School and later moved on to Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
