Onscreen Married Life With Husband, Split After Spoused Gets Mixed In A Scandal
Dawn, who belongs to African-American and Asian ethnicity, is a married woman in the show Queen Sugar.
Dawn aka Charley was married to NBA player, Davis West (played by Timon Kyle Durrett) and has a son with her partner. Charley, an MBA, lived with her husband in Los Angeles and also managed Davis' business affairs.

But the couple's relationship turned sour after her spouse got involved in a highly publicized scandal. Davis, along with his teammates, was accused of raping a prostitute named Melina Goloudian, after which Charley realized that it was time to end the relationship.
Charley then confronted Davis in the middle of his basketball game saying,
"What did you do? You're a lie."
In the midst of all the scandal, her father suffered a sudden stroke and was rushed to the hospital where he passed away. Dawn divorced her husband and moved back to her hometown in St. Josephine, Louisiana along with her teenage son, Micah.
Back in her native city, Charley grieved the untimely demise of her father and reconnected with her siblings Nova and Ralph Angel (played by Rutina Wesley and Kofi Siriboe). Further, she was forced to face her distant mother, Lorna (Sharon Lawrence), who turned up invited.

Going through all these tragedies, Dawn still determined to reclaim her life and started applying her business tactics to her father's 800 acres of sugar cane farm and became the first black woman in Louisiana to open a sugar cane mill.
Later in the series, she also developed a budding romance with irrigation specialist Remy Newell and looked like circumstances were finally starting to get better for Charlie.
Dawn, aged 36, described her character, Charley, as the “Superwoman,” who tries to fulfill her roles as a wife, mother, sister, and daughter. And the only similarity between Dawn's on-screen character and real life is that they are both of mixed races.
Dawn is set to premiere on the series later this year on 29 May 2018.
