Declan Donnelly earned his fame as a host of the British talent show Britain’s Got Talent alongside his longtime friend and co-host, Anthony McPartlin. The duo is known as Ant & Dec.

He has appeared in 221 episodes of Britain’s Got Talent to this date alongside Anthony from 2007. However, this is not the only show that he hosts with Anthony; the duo has also been hosting their show, Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, from 2002.

Declan is married to Ali Astall. The couple met when Ali was working as Ant & Dec’s manager. She had been working with them for more than 10 years. 

So it is quite evident that they didn’t start dating right away. Their working relationship initially made them reluctant to be in a relationship, which is what Dec also said.

The couple only became a thing in 2013. However, they didn’t reveal their relationship to the public right away.

After being in a romantic relationship for about a year and a half, Declan popped the question. He proposed to her in 2014 while both of them were in Australia. He was working in I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!, and Ali was there as his manager.

Then, on the 1st of August 2015, the couple tied the knot. They held their wedding in Declan’s hometown, St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Elswick, Newcastle, and Anthony served as his best man.

Declan then became a father for the first time in 2018. His daughter, Isla Elizabeth Anne Donnelly, was born on the 1st of September.

Five Years Complete

On 1st August 2020, Ant and Dec took it to their Twitter and shared that they would be taking a break to spend time with their family and friends.

But after 6.39 pm, the same account jumped back and tweeted;

It seems like Ant and Dec haven't had enough of pranking celebrities that they didn't even leave behind their fans. 

Past Relationships

Previously, Declan was in a long-term relationship with actress Clare Buckfield. The couple was together for about ten years before ending their relationship in 2003. The busy work schedule was the reason for the split.

After moving on from Clare, Declan dated Sky Sports presenter Georgie Thompson.

However, this courtship didn’t last, either, as they broke up after two years. Talking about their break-up, Thompson said Declan was not ready to settle down, so they decided to call it quits. Though it was painful, they remained on good terms later.  

Dec then moved on with a new relationship in 2012. He reportedly started dating Pussycat Dolls star Ashley Roberts following her appearance on I'm a Celebrity. 

Initially, Ashley wanted to keep things out of the public eye, but Dec was the complete opposite. He kept no secrets of his fling with Ashley. 

However, their romance soon came to an end. But the couple, without a doubt, remained good friends. Ashley even attended Dec's wedding in 2015.

He has three brothers and three sisters. His brothers’ names are Martin, Eamonn, and Dermott, and his sisters are Patricia, Moira, and Camelia. Dermott is a priest and runs a Catholic retreat in County Durham.
