Denise Nicholas is an actress and author best known for playing Liz McIntyre in Room 222 (1969-1974). Some of her other well-known works are Let’s Do It Again (1975), In the Heat of the Night (1989-1995), and Capricorn One (1977).

She is also an accomplished author. Her first novel, Freshwater Road, was published in 2005. It won the Zora Neale Hurston/Richard Wright Legacy Award for Debut Fiction in 2006.
