Grace was born on the 10th of December 1985 in London, England. Her full name is Grace Elizabeth Chatto.

In 2008, the singer was in a relationship with the drummer of her band, Jack Patterson. They met while pursuing an education at the Jesus College, University of Cambridge.
The couple remained tight-lipped regarding the details of their relationship. However, in November 2016, Grace revealed that the duo had parted ways. The same year, Jack began dating pop star, Marina Diamandis. But, the affair also ended.

Before her success as a musician, she used to work as a cello teacher at a school in London.

Besides music, Grace has also dabbled a bit in acting. She played the role of Teena in Hilary and Jackie In 1998. The cast included Emily Watson and Rachel Griffiths in the leading roles.
