Best known for her portrayal of Penelope Garcia's character in the crime drama "Criminal Minds," Kirsten Vangsness credits her co-star & a universal sex symbol, Shemar Moore, for helping her realize her "queerness."

The Los Angeles native, who identified as bisexual and was engaged with her girlfriend, has a husband now.

Although Kristen came out as bisexual and was dating a girl, she later fell in love with her husband-to-be, Keith Hanson. She got engaged for the second time in November 2015 to Keith Hanson, an actor and writer. 

It has been more than six years of engagement, but Kirsten and her husband-to-be have not announced anything about their possible marriage. 

However, when talking to PEOPLE after breaking the news, she labeled her future husband perfect by saying:-

"He's the perfect partner for me, and I feel like we evolve... "

Even though she is now engaged with her husband-to-be, her four-year-long engagement with her then-fiancee still remains a popular story. 

Kirsten Vangsness Almost Married Her Girlfriend 

When Kirsten got engaged to her girlfriend of more than three years, Melanie Goldstein, in 2009, not only did she break away from her family's religious background but also teetered between an act of rebellion against the existing laws and a gesture of her love.

Because of the family values that forbade her from getting married, much less with a woman, the In My Sleep actress grew up understanding that she wasn't marriage material. At the time of her engagement, she claimed:-

"I never thought I would want to [get married]. Then when you meet the person, you're like, 'I want to marry you. I don't care if there's a law against it!'"

But sadly, the romance between the two would eventually erode. And in 2013, Kirsten and Melaine, an assistant editor on the TV series 24, called off their engagement.

In a later interview, she asserted that not getting married had nothing to do with the sexual aspect of their relationship. Instead, she blamed their career and dreams as a reason for separation.

However, the Chicago 8 actress didn't remain single for much longer and moved on with her now-husband, who supported her every step.

Standing at the height of 5 feet and 7 inches (1.7 m) and weighing 76 kgs, Kirsten is now a proud owner of an hourglass body, whose measurements read as 41-35-40 inches (104-89-102).

Her weight loss didn’t impact her career, as she was an outstanding actress from the beginning.

Kirsten made her acting debut in a short comedy film named Sometimes Santa's Gotta Get Whacked in 1998. After that, it took a while to appear on the screen until 2004, when she made her television debut 2004. Later, she was in the sitcom Phil of the Future, where she portrayed the role of Veronica.

She got her breakthrough in 2005 when she was cast in the crime drama TV show, Criminal Minds as Penelope Grace Garcia. Initially, she only had a guest appearance but later became the main cast of the series. She acted alongside Mandy Patinkin, Shemar Moore, Thomas Gibson, Matthew Gray Gubler, Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, and Paget Brewster. 

The series also has two spin-off shows, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour (2011) and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders (2016-17), where she has had recurring roles. 

In 2010, she landed an amazing portrayal in the series, Pretty the Series, for which the audience highly admired her. She was even nominated twice for the Best Supporting Actress at the Indie Series Awards. 

Her other TV shows include Vampire Mob, Second City This Week, Good Job, Thanks!, and Shelf Life. Her film credits include A-List, In My Sleep, Kill Me, Deadly, and Dave Made a Maze. 

She has accumulated a net worth of $3 million with her amazing acting career.
