“I kept thinking that for clarity of mind, I had to be in one place. Then I realised that's not how this life is going to work. It makes romance absolutely impossible.”

Furthermore, she added:-

"I'm soppy and I do like to believe that when the right person comes along, it will work, because you want to make it work. Everyone else seems to manage it."

Almost three years have passed since the said interview, Emilia surely has developed a better outlook on relationship & dating, no?

However, the relationship seemed to be short-lived. An article on AceShowbiz confirmed that the couple had ended the relationship. Also, Charlie deleted snaps of them together and unfollowed Emilia on Instagram. It appears that Emilia was the one to finish it as Charlie told "This was not my decision." on a now-deleted tweet.

Life-Threatening Brain Aneurysm; How GOT Saved Emilia Clark's Life?

After years of silence, in March 2019, Emilia finally opened up about her life-threatening brain aneurysms in an aptly titled the New Yorker essay "A Battle For My Life."

Per the Me Before You actress, she suffered her first episode of brain aneurysms in February 2011 - weeks after completion of the filming GOT's very first season - while exercising at a North London gym. Sharing the painful experience, she wrote:-

"I reached the toilet, sank to my knees, and proceeded to be violently, voluminously ill. Meanwhile, the pain—shooting, stabbing, constricting pain—was getting worse. At some level, I knew what was happening: my brain was damaged."

After getting rushed to the hospital, Emilia learned that she had suffered a case of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) -- "a life-threatening type of stroke, caused by bleeding into the space surrounding the brain."

Upon the prognosis, the doctors referred her to the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, where she underwent three-hour surgery. The surgeons tasked with operating on her, however, didn't split her skull in two.

In the said piece, the Terminator Genisys actress details her sufferings following the operation in a rather excruciating manner.

For the next two years, Emilia remained vigilant about her illness. But then, a routine brain scan while on a trip to New York in 2013 showed that the other side of her brain had doubled in size.

Acting on doctors advice, she agreed for a second surgery on her brain. The decision, however, proved to be a disastrous one. Revisiting the aftermath of her second brain operation, she wrote:-

"I emerged from the operation with a drain coming out of my head. Bits of my skull had been replaced by titanium."

By her accounts, Emilia didn't believe that she would live to see another year. But, continual support from her blood relatives and the Game of Thrones family help her recover over time.

Talking to E! News in April 2019, she claimed that being part of the beloved HBO series saved her life.
