Jorge Garcia Weight Loss Journey and Support From His Partner

American actor Jorge Garcia, who was never bothered with his appearance, recently lost about 100 pounds from his initial weight of 400lbs.

He is best recognized for his roles as Hurley in ABC's hit supernatural sci-fi series, Lost and a conspiracy theorist in the CBS show Hawaii Five-0.

Aside from his acting credentials, the actor has made headlines due to his weight-related issues. So why did the actor change his appearance?

Jorge Garcia, 48, has always been praised for his acting ability, and now he is being honored for his remarkable weight loss journey.

Jorge has always leaned to the chubby side since he was a kid. But, unlike many other people, he never has issues with his appearance. He has even got various roles that call for his talent and body.

Many people commented about his size, but he has chosen to ignore all the negativity and continued to focus on expanding his on-screen career.

However, his weight began to increase, and after some time, he began to feel pressure from his close ones, who were concerned about his weight and the probability of contracting diseases.

In 2016, he tried his best to lose some weight and tried different weight loss methods and even succeeded to a certain extent. But, he did not receive the result accordingly, making him revert to his original plan. Because of his unhealthy eating habits and addiction to food, he gained about 400 pounds. His weight gain made him reach a dangerous point in his life.

His close ones and his doctor advised different ways to decrease his weight, including surgery of removing fats from his body.

He realized the possibilities of Type 2 Diabetes, stroke, and sudden heart attack and began to take his weight loss journey very seriously. Jorge began his diet plan and completely became vegan. He stopped eating junk food and exercised for months for his weight loss. After putting in such efforts, Jorge lost one-fourth of his weight and reduced it from 400 to 300 pounds which drove him out of the risk zone. 

On the other hand, Jorge has not appeared in public, leaving his followers wondering about his weight loss progress.

He seems to have regained his weight based on his Instagram posts. Although it is difficult to judge his size only based on photos, his recent posts on Instagram show him to be gaining weight.

However, his partner has always been supportive in his weight loss journey. 

Is Jorge Garcia Married?

In 2019, Jorge Garcia got married to Rebecca Birdsall, his long-time lover and the love of his life. Although there is no exact information on when Jorge and Rebecca started dating, they seem to have been together since 2013 or 2014.

Jorge is very protective of his personal life and does not publicly talk about it. That is why they had a private wedding held at Leixlip Manor in Ireland, just outside of Dublin.

Jorge’s wife, Rebecca, also happens to be an actress who has appeared in minor roles in shows like Hawaii Five-0 (2010), Maggie (2013), and Surreal Lounge (2012).

Despite the fact that Jorge is very private about his personal life, he does occasionally update his social media. Based on his Instagram post, there is no doubt that they are totally happy with each other. 

In November 2021, Jorge and Rebecca had their first child. Jorge was the first to announce his daughter's arrival in this world.

The couple has not revealed their daughter's identity, indicating that they value privacy. But, Rebecca does update her daughter’s activities on Instagram.
