In 1978, Ann Curry started her journalism career with KTVL as an intern and later became the first lady reporter of that station. Eventually, she moved to KGW as an anchor and reporter, and after serving there for four years, she moved to KCBS-TV where she won two Emmy Awards as a reporter.

After bagging the two Emmys, she rose to prominence as a prominent figure in the journalism industry. In 1990, she joined the mighty NBC News as a Chicago correspondent. She used to substitute Matt Lauer from 1994 to 1997. Later, she went on to permanently replace Meredith Vieira on Today in 2011.
On her first day as a co-anchor on the Today show, her husband and daughter had a message for her with their best wishes.
Later in 2012, Curry announced that she would be leaving the Today show. She bid farewell to all the cast of Today and her viewers. The reason was said to be the fall in the rating of the show in comparison to its rival, ABC’s Good Morning America.

Ann was expected to support her former colleague, but her statement shocked many. The 62-year-old veteran reporter mentioned that she was not surprised by the firing of Matt Lauer and all the sexual accusations against him.
