25 years of married life comes to halt!
American novelist MacKenzie Bezos, the wife of the world's richest person Jeff Bezos, a founder and chief executive of Amazon.com Inc, is calling off their 25 years of married life.
The couple released a joint statement on Twitter announcing their divorce on 10 January 2019. According to the statement, the duo signed on divorce paper after "a long period of loving exploration and a trial separation."
The statement suggested their separation will be amicable and they would remain as "family and cherished friends." They even look forward to partner in ventures and projects and pursue their own adventures as individuals.
The duo decided to end their marriage after being together for 25 years; since they first met at a New York Hedge fund company, D.E. Shaw while MacKenzie was interviewing for a job. Three months later, the pair got engaged and only a year after being married in 1993 they started their company, Amazon. The pair now shares four children and a whopping net worth of $137 billion and counting.
With divorce on their plate, the couple might just have the world's most expensive divorce so far. While any support that Jeff gives to MacKenzie could be negligible to his wealth, any money they acquired since being married could be split equally between the two.
As Amazon was found a year after their marriage, MacKenzie is entitled to half of the Amazon-based fortune. The amount is estimated to be as much as $66 billion.
The settlement that big could dilute Jeff's ownership of the company as he would have to sell or pledge the shares. Fortunately, according to MacKenzie's lawyers, she is likely to let the family fortune continue growing, which would mean Jeff holding the control of the company.
Nevetherless, the divorce could just be the most expensive divorce in history.

The news of their divorce surfaced the media after Jeff reportedly cheated on his wife with a former television anchor. Jeff has a budding romance with Lauren Sanchez, former anchor of Fox 11's Good Day LA, who also happens to be a married woman.
It is reported that Lauren is also seeking divorce with her husband, Hollywood mogul Patrick Whitesell.
Though divorced or not, Jeff took Lauren to an exotic destination on his $65 million private jet and has been sending her "raunchy messages and erotic selfies." So, is the alleged infidelity is what enticed MacKenzie to seek a divorce? Its yet to be confirmed!
