Game Of Thrones has a reputation for being highly secretive – managing to keep both its big and small plot twists out of the public eye for years. But, there was a time when Liam's close ones thought he was dead. Enlightening the matter; Liam stated,
“When the season ends, the first thing I do is shave the beard off, I was around, a friend of mine’s house and her sister came in, and when she opened the door she went, ‘Oh my God, you’re dead! You’re dead, you’re dead!’ And I went, ‘What do you mean I’m dead? I’m not dead!’ She went, ‘You have no beard! You took the beard off, you must be dead! Oh God! I’m telling all my friends you’re dead.’ I went, ‘I just shaved the beard off, I just finished.’ She wouldn’t believe me. There was no amount of convincing this girl that I was possibly still alive. Because I didn’t have the beard, that was her clue that I was dead.”
However, in a phone interview with Star2 Magazine, Liam disclosed he was alive in the first episode of the new season. He denied divulging further on the matter, yet he stated,
“I would love him to last. I hope he lasts. I like him, the audience likes him. But knowing (creators) David (Benioff) and Dan (D.B. Weiss), and (author) George R.R. Martin, that is a good enough reason to kill him. So, who knows?”
Whatever may be in the future, it is clear that Lian's character is alive in the early episodes of season 8.
