Amazon Begins Investigation of Jeffrey Tambor on Claims of Sexual Harassment! View Full Report
The 'Transparent' star Jeffrey Tambor is being investigated by Amazon for sexual-harassment allegation nearly a month after Roy Price resigned over sexual harassment allegations.
According to Deadline, the spokesperson for Amazon confirmed that the company has initiated an investigation, after Tambor’s former assistant Van Barnes accused him of “implied inappropriate behavior” through a private Facebook post. The investigation will involve direct speaking with transgender Barnes and Tambor, who described the claims as ‘baseless.’
Barnes, who hasn’t disclosed Tambor’s name in the post, revealed that her boss repeatedly propositioned her, groped her, made lewd comments, and threatened to sue her if she opens up about these activities.
Conversely, Tambor released a statement on Wednesday, where he denied all the allegations. He explained-
“I am aware that a former disgruntled assistant of mine has made a private post implying that I had acted in an improper manner toward her. I adamantly and vehemently reject and deny any and all implication and allegation that I have ever engaged in any improper behavior toward this person or any other person I have ever worked with. I am appalled and distressed by this baseless allegation.”
The 'Transparent' creator Jill Soloway also issued a statement in response to sexual harassment claims against Tambor. The statement reads-
“Anything that would diminish the level of respect, safety and inclusion so fundamental to our workplace is completely antithetical to our principles. We are cooperating with the investigation into this matter.”
The sexual harassment allegation by a transgender woman against seventy-three-year-old Tambor has been a surprising news to most of the people out there, as Tambor is known for playing the character of a transgender matriarch in “Transparent.” He has even received two Emmys for his performance in the movie.
Additionally, Tambor even spoke for transgender women while he received the 2016 Emmy for lead actor in a comedy. During the Emmy speech, he said-
“Please give transgender talent a chance. Give them auditions. Give them their story. Do that. And also, one more thing, I would not be unhappy were I the last cisgender male playing a female transgender on television. We have work to do.”
