Happily Married With Wife and 3 Children, Dan Walker: Devout Christian, No Works on Sundays?

Most of the television personalities and actors love to keep their professional life away from their personal affair. Likewise, Dan Walker loves to spend time with his family, taking an occasional break from his job to avoid the possible collision between his profession and personal life.

As a devout Christian, Walker also makes sure that he never has to work on Sundays, to have time for the church.

Faith Over Work, Does Not Work On Sundays

His religious commitment is such that he sacrificed his childhood dream of being a footballer by refusing invitations from the youth teams of major clubs just because they played their matches on Sundays.

Football Focus presenter, Dan Walker, has made a deal with his bosses to never to work on Sunday. On 10th Feb 2016, he let his employers know by tweeting:-

"I don't mind the 3am starts... just don't ask me to work on Sunday."

In 2010, Walker opened up about his faith towards God saying,

“I was convinced that it was the right thing to honor God and follow his commandments. Observing the Lord’s day is a great privilege and brings with it loads of blessings.”

In the beginning, Walker had difficulties in finding the job as a football presenter as he was seeking a position where he could take a break on the day of Sabbath. Then, Walker got named stupid by some interviewers while his determination moved other.

Happily Married, Shares Family With Wife

While his career is on the go struggling his way up, Dan shares a blissful love life with his wife. He is a happily married man and shares the marital bond with his girlfriend turned wife Sarah Walker.

The couple has been together for years and turns out they even studied at the same place in Sheffield. As of now, the couple together shares a home there where they spent most of their life as they grew up.

Dan and his wife Sarah also shares three children - Susie who is at the age of 10, Jessica who is at the age of 8 and Joe who is now 7. Adding to it, they even have a cockapoo rescue dog who is called Winnie.

Their family of five has been living together while enjoying every moment together. The even went for a vacation in Blue Waters, Antigua back in 2014 which is Dan's best holiday to date with his family.

Likewise, he often tweeted about his holidays with his kids. Back in 2012, he updated his followers as they traveled in a car in hot weather with no air-conditioning. 

Announces Break From BBC Breakfast To Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro

Two months after announcing his hiatus from BBC Breakfast, in late January 2019, Dan revealed that he was taking few days off to do some "extraordinary work for Comic Relief."

His co-host Louise then shared the purpose of his sabbatical by saying:-

“Oh come on! He’s volunteered to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s higher mountain, alongside a host of celebrities, including…”

Dan, however, wouldn't take the daunting task - for charity - on his own. He revealed that fellow celebrities Danny Dyer, Jade and Leigh-Anne from Little Mix, Ed Balls, Shirley Ballas, Alexander Armstrong, and Anita Rani would accompany him.

At the time, the father of three claimed that all the proceeds from the event would go to charitable organizations.

While still preparing for the climb, Dan - in a tongue and cheek matter - expressed his wish to be back on the BBC Breakfast. His tweet was a response to a fan who quizzed him if he was leaving the morning show for good.

Throughout his quest to mount the tallest mountain in the African continent, he and his fellow climbers went through numerous setbacks. If not for the camaraderie, Dan and the co-worker wouldn't have completed the task on hand.

Like A Boss At Rio Olympics 2016, Received Threatening Emails

Walker was presenting the late-night show in Rio on 13 August, Saturday on Copacabana beach where he was interrupted by Brazilian bride-to-be Maria De Cezar. Like a boss, Walker handled the situation with finesse. He engaged with bride-to-be Maria for a chat and even shared high fives. Walker revealed that he got invited to the wedding through twitter.

On the other hand, in September 2016, it was revealed that BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker and Louise Minchin recieved terrifying emails.

Thirty-five-year-old Paranoid schizophrenic Kristofer Jean Pierre Groot admitted that he sent the emails as he believed a segment on cleaning was a personal backlash aimed at him. Through the emails, Groot threatened to kill Dan's family and said that Louise's 'neck looks nice for slitting.'

Dan's Short Bio

Standing tall at the height of six feet four inches, Dan was born on 19 March 1977, in Crawley, West Sussex. Raised by a Baptist preacher, he became devout at the age of 12. From the University of Sheffield, Walker earned an honorary degree in History.

He also attained an MA in Journalism from the University. His professional career began with Sheffield's Hallam FM. He has presented sport on the BBC News Channel, shows on BBC Radio 5 Live and is regularly reporting Match of the Day and Final Score. 

Walker replaced Bill Turnbull as presenter of BBC Breakfast and his first show aired on 29 February 2016. He also co-presented the 'Clash of the Titans' segment of the Sports Relief telethon in 2016.
