Jharrel Jerome is a teenage sensation popular for portraying the famous gay character, Kevin, on the Oscar-winning picture, Moonlight in 2016. Following the tremendous success of the movie, his hard work was rewarded with roles in projects; Monster, and Mr. Mercedes.

At the age of fifteen, Jharrel started creating music himself. During his high school days in Fiorello H. LaGuardia, the teenager was encouraged to pursue acting by his family, especially his mother, Radoyka Jerome.

After much practice, finally, his big breakthrough came during his college's freshman year in Ithaca. He was cast as a gay character, Kevin in Moonlight and stole the heart of the audience.

In no time, the actor of Dominican Republic ethnicity armed with a height of 5 feet 8 inches (1.73m) became a rising name in the industry.

Similarly, the 21-year-old's success continued, as he landed recurring roles in movies and series alike. In 2019, the actor is part of the Netflix series When They See Us and is on the process of filming for a new film, Concrete Cowboys.

While the Emmy was well deserved for the rising star, he credited his success to the entire team of the Exonerated Five. He also shared the nostalgic moment when he first met his character in real life during the nomination. He shared :

"The first time I met Korey, he took off the chain around his neck and put it on my neck and said, 'You're the king now. You're Korey Wise,'"

True to his words, actor Jharrol Jerome has brought every range of emotion in his arsenal for the role.

Since the 71st annual Emmy Awards, it is reported that Jharrel will join popular actor Idris Elba in a new black cowboy film. It seems the actor is going places since his Emmy victory.
