First Baby, Wedding & Husband

Joy-Anna brought her first bundle of joy, Gideon Forsyth into the world on 23rd February 2018. As a first time expectant, she had planned to have a home birth of the baby. But after 19 long hours of labor, the midwife found out that the child was breech ⁠— a condition involving the baby’s head up instead of turned down like in healthy pregnancy.

Finally, the first-time-mother got taken to the hospital, and a healthy baby boy was delivered.

While Joy was bringing life on earth, her husband was by her side 24/7. Austin supported his wife throughout her pregnancy and made sure her delivery got done with utmost care.

The married duo’s love story was also quite a romantic one. The first encounter of the love-birds happened when Austin’s family moved to Arkansas and started attending the Duggars’ church. Joy was a little girl, so was her beau, so there was no question of a romantic affair.

After knowing each other for 15 years as friends, the pair decided to take their relationship to the next level and started dating. Joy and Austin come from a conservative family; thus, they weren’t allowed to go on dates without chaperons- mom, dad, or other family members.

After the blessing from their parents, the couple got engaged in March 2017. The newly committed duo’s happiness knew no bounds as they fixed their wedding date for October 2017.

Things were going as planned, but the pair shocked fans when they preponed their wedding and got married in May 2017 instead.

Fans couldn’t help but wonder if Joy’s pre-marital pregnancy was the reason behind the change in the wedding date. But the speculations were termed as false when she gave birth to her son nine months after the wedding.

After the birth of her baby, she surprisingly lost weight and fans were concerned if her height-weight ratio was not healthy. But she assured fans that she was well and there was no concern about her health.

Pregnancy Followed By Miscarriage

On 1st May 2019, Joy announced being pregnant with her second child. Her parents broke the news via their website.

Following the revelation, the reality star and her husband Austin issued a statement. In it, the married duo professed excitement over the prospect of Gideon having a sibling.

Via Instagram, they revealed their second baby was due in November.

Five months into her pregnancy, Joy's entire world came crashing as she miscarried. Sharing the devastating news a week later via Instagram, she quoted the doctor words. It read:-

“So this is your baby’s heart (pointing to the ultrasound screen). I don’t hear a heartbeat or see any movement.”

Per the post, she and Austin had visited the doctor for gender reveal and their 20-week ultrasound. The celebratory moment turned into a parents' worst nightmare with the news of the miscarriage. Admittedly, they cried countless tears.

Joy and her husband had named their daughter Annabell Elise.

Age, Siblings & Parents

Joy is 21 years old. Born as the ninth child of Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Ruark, nothing about her upbringing was conventional. A mere seven years old, she was part of 14 Children and Pregnant Again! On the Discovery Health Channel. Later at age 11, she started appearing on TLC’s reality show 17 Kids and Counting along with her parents and siblings.

Due to her busy filming schedule, Joy recieved homeschooling; thus, she never went to high school or any school for that matter. She gave her General Educational Development (GED) tests in 2016 and graduated from her home.
